Clinician I Family Planning- $2500 Sign-On Bonus

SUMMARY

Act as part of the medical services team providing reproductive health care as outlined in PPGOH Medical Standards & Guidelines. Practices within the state of Ohio BON scope of practice for APRNs. Provides direct patient care including: history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis and treatment according to protocols for 3-5 patient encounters per hour. Participates in accomplishing customer-focused goals. Provides referrals and participates in follow-up. Consults with Regional Lead Clinician and/or Medical Director to ensure compliance with guidelines. Participates in Risk and Quality Management program, clinician meetings and other agency and health center meetings and trainings as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Responsible for implementing overall quality assurance activities, assessing, planning and administering health care which is individualized to the client, and consistent with the policies and protocols of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.
  • Works in partnership with the D.O.N. to maintain effective leadership of support staff in surgical services while maximizing the patient experience
  • Responsible for assessment plan, examination and treatment for all services provided at the center, for which the clinician is trained and privileged.
  • Reviews & interprets the medical and social history.
  • Performs appropriate medical screening procedures/exams.
  • Interprets laboratory data, orders additional laboratory investigations when indicated and ensures appropriate follow-up.
  • Reviews histories and orders contraceptive methods preoperatively. Begins training and/or completes privileging for device insertion and removal (implants, IUCs)
  • Provides emergency contraception.
  • Performs medical assessment and management of basic STI and genito-urinary conditions and treats preoperatively as needed
  • Provides perimenopausal and menopausal services.
  • Counsels pregnant women on all pregnancy outcome options
  • Provides pre and post abortion care, including IV starts, sedation administration, recovery room care and follow-up Ultrasound for MAB, with training in pre-op/ultrasound dating IUP confirmation
  • Miscarriage management; including differential diagnoses with workup involving physical exam, ultrasound and lab work follow up
  • Acts as a medical consultant to clinic staff.
  • Manages Medical emergency situations in the center.
  • Is compliant with OSHA, CLIA and State Board of Pharmacy procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Participates in after-hours on-call system, as needed.
  • Participates in staff meetings related to center management and provides staff training in current medical procedures relevant to reproductive health.
  • Maintains CPR and ACLS per PPFA standards
  • Participates in the revenue cycle through knowledge of charge capture and pricing, health information management, clinical documentation, coding, and 3rdparty reimbursement.
  • Continuously maintain current evidence-based knowledge of standards of care related to services provided in the center.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with the Practice Manager and DON, supervises clinical services within the health center.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LEVEL FIVE: Requires education commensurate with Ohio statute licensure requirements for practice capacity (Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife). Must have current OHIO nursing licens and APRN license with prescriptive authority. Recent graduate up to 1 year experience.

Willingness and ability to learn new skills appropriate to PPGOH clinical duties. Able to work cooperatively as a member of a health care delivery team

 

Ability to see 3-5patients per hour within 6 months of hire and correctly code visits as required by CMS coding guidelines.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

LEVEL TWO: Strong spoken and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

LEVEL ONE: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

 

REASONING ABILITY

LEVEL THREE: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to take decisive action.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ohio statute licensure requirements for practice capacity (Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife).Must have current OHIO nursing license.

 

CPR/ BLS and ACLS Certifications required
