Billing Assistant

Department: Finance
Location: NW Canton, OH

The Billing Assistant is responsible for eligibility checks and precertification of services for Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.† Additionally will provide support to the Billing Department as needed.† The job duties include but are not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all with agency protocols, policies and procedures, including any state and federal laws and regulations.†

  • Maintain a positive attitude and excellent customer services skills.

  • Secures sufficient coverage information to confirm with insurer dates of eligibility and outline of benefits and precertification of procedures.

  • Communicates with Health Centers, Billing department, and patientís necessary information.† Must have strong customer service skills.

  • Organize and communicate precertification information effectively with attention to detail.

  • Submits status updates and feedback on process and results to the Billing department and Health Services as needed.

  • Must be able to multi-task and work under stressful situations.† Able to prioritize work load.

  • Provide support to the Billing department and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LEVEL ONE:† High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum 2 years of customer service experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

LEVEL ONE: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.† Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.† Ability to speak effectively 1:1 with co-workers, internal and external customers, and outside contractors and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

LEVEL TWO:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.† Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

REASONING ABILITY

LEVEL TWO: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.† Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
